The Universal Moment

I am jamming on the Universal Moment, that potential in any instant when the complete experience is grokked by the experiencer. In this sense grokk means to experience the personal aspect of the event as well as the universal aspect. When this occurs there is a collective shift.

Whoa, who would of thunk?

This experience is not unlike what is esoterically expressed in the Japanese poetic form called Haiku.

It is also similar to what is referred to as Pratyahara which means “experience experiencing the experience”.

The question is, how does one experience the universal moment?

The way that I came to this insight was when I was meditating with the Boulder Shambhala group. I was practicing Tonglin and noticed that I had some of my own negative attitude on my radar screen.

Don’t you hate it when your radar screen gets gunked up with negative attitude?

Anyway, like one is prepared to do in Tonglin, I breathed in the negative attitude and breathed it out into space, neutralizing my handle on it. I noticed that there is a lot of energy and awareness in negative attitudes. I also notice that the negative attitude is like a portal, a doorway to the universe. I noticed a similar experience on Tuesday evening when I was sitting with a different group doing a meditation called Sweeping.

As I moved my mind through my body experiencing the sensation, at one point I experienced the sensation of my perception and it’s like I pierced a veil into a bright light.

Whoa, there’s a lot poking into the Absolute goin on these days.

In these two isolated experiences I was aware of a converging of the personal and universal. When I’ve experienced the turning of a personal moment into a universal moment, I’ve noticed that there is an in-between territory which feels like the collective. It’s as if the collective gets included in this universal moment. This composite experience feels like the heart of humanity.

Here’s an Ancient Enneagram Solutions chart of the Universal Moment.

The Triplicity is Personal/Collective/Universal, points 3, 6 and 9.

The way that you experience a Universal Moment ( not to be confused with a perfect moment ) is

Step 1

Notice what’s on your radar screen and clear it off. This can be done with the Tibetan Buddhist Meditation technique called Tonglin.

Step 2

Recognize your perspective or said another way, recognize who or what is looking. This is especially powerful if this perspective is negative. Like I said above, there can be a lot of energy locked up in this negativity. In any case, when the perspective is owned, this personal moment becomes a doorway, a portal to the universal. Now, the curious thing is this polarity between the personal and universal seems to inherently invite the collective. It’s like humanity gets a free ride through your universal moment and then we all expand into the heart of humanity.

I’ve done a video of this. It’s in a Facebook Group called Welcome to the Shift Show.

My father took bicycles and cars apart and put them back together. I've taken the Universe apart and I'm trying to put it back together.
