Are you are runner who is looking for ways of deepening your running experience?

Do you yearn to have a more metaphysical approach to running?

Are you wanting to expand your state of mind while exercising your body?

If you answer yes to any of these questions please read on because I believe I have some powerful strategies for you?

I started running decades ago and it’s always been a meditative experience for me. My running method has reflected what is current in my meditation practice and is also influenced by Tai Chi.

So with Tai Chi as a foundation let’s begin.

Before we do I need to remind you that you are the captain of your own ship and to decide for yourself if these running instructions are good for you.

Part 1

The central principle of Tai Chi is mind in Dan Tien. The Dan Tien is the point three fingers below your navel and three fingers in. This is the physical center of your body. It helps to anchor this point of focus with the breath. As you run breathe in and out at the Dan Tien, vitalizing your entire body with the energy from this center. This energy is called Chi.

Try this out for a week. Be patient with yourself and the process. We are building a foundation so when we layer other techniques on top, the meditative structure won’t topple. And believe me, we’re going to be layering a lot on top.

Please ask questions and leave comments.

Check back in a week. I’ll have the next layer for you!

Christopher lives Boulder, Co., attended Naropa Institute and has been meditating for 50 years.
